Boston Red Sox win the World Series.

The Red Sox beat the St Louis Cardinals 6-1 in Fenway Park in game 6 to win the team’s eighth World Series and third in the last 10 years. The team, many of whose members grew beards as the season progressed, is led by David Ortiz, who batted .688 and had a .760 on base percentage in the series. The Red Sox become only the second team history to win the World Series after finishing last in their division in the previous year.
